Married Lias P. SAUNDERS on 05 Apr 1905 in Albion, Dane Co., Wi. Obit is from the Edgerton Reporter, Edgerton, Rock Co., Wi. Thurs 18 Apr 1968: MRS. LIAS SAUNDERS Mrs. Lias P. Saunders, 83, lifelong area resident who had made her home here with her daughter, Mrs. Donald (Violet) Lord, the past year, died Tuesday, April 16, in Memorial Community hospital after a brief illness. Josie Christianson was born May 10, 1884, at Busseyville, the daughter of Chris and Mary Larson Christianson, and was married April 5, 1905, in Albion. Mr. and Mrs. Saunders operated a farm in the town of Albion until retiring to Albion in 1927. He died in 1963. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lord and Mrs. Harlin Watson, both of Edgerton; two sons, Lawrence and Harold, both of Beloit; 19 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren. Services are being held at 2 P.M. today in the Ellingson Funeral Home, with burial in Albion Prairie Cemetery. Pallbearers are Sidney Watson, James, Larry, Roger, Richard and Earl Saunders. Fr. Wayne Turner officiated. Mrs. John Barron was organist. Memorials in Mrs. Saunders' name may be made to the Albion Historical Society. Edgerton - Lias Saunders, 80, Rte. 1, Edgerton, died after a heart attack Wednesday evening in his home in Albion Township. He was born Oct. 9, 1882, in the Town of Albion. He married Josie Christianson April 5, 1905, in Edgerton. Mr. Saunders farmed in Albion Township until 1925 when he moved to Edgerton and was employed by the Highway Trailer Co. In 1932, he returned to Albion Township and operated a mink ranch for 10 years. He was a member of a former Edgerton concert band. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Violet Lord and Mrs. Harlan Watson, both of Edgerton; two sons, Lawrence and Harold, both of Beloit; 19 grandchildren, and 29 great grandchildren. A sister preceded him in death. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Jones-Spear Funeral Home, the Rev. Albin Tippins officiating. Burial will be in Albion Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Friday.
