HANNAH VICKERS Mrs. Hannah Vickers was born at Birchover, Derbyshire, England, Oct. 29, 1819, and departed this life March 1rst, 1896. She moved with her parents to Whittington in 1835, at which place she was married to Sam'l G. Vickers in 1844, her maiden name being Marsden. To them were born eight children, all of whom are prosperous and industrious citizens. THey came to America in 1869 and settled her on Albion Prairie, where her parents and brothers and sisters settled in 1844. Four of the children, John, Martha(now Mrs. Moore), Samuel, Mary (Mrs. Goodrich) are in South Dakota. THe remaining four, George, Walter, Arthur and Joseph, still remain in or near this vicinity. Mrs. Vickers was converted through the instrumentality of the Primitive Methodist church when she was 20 years old, with which she remained a faithful member to the end. She had been gradually growing feeble for some time, but the journey to Edgerton to attend the funeral of her old and highly repsected friend, Mrs. Hudson, hastened on the end. From that day it came on rapidly, yet without any severe bodily pain. The funeral was held at the P.M. church on Thursday last, her pastor Rev. M. C. Baker, officiating. Although the weather was inclement, a large number followed her to her last resting place, showing how highly she was respected by all the people of this community. All her children were able to be present, and may they all meet her with father who preceeded her some seven years ago.
