Died 23 Mar 1886 in Madison, Dane Co., Wi. (The online transcript of his bio says he died 28th, not sure if that is a transcription error?) Biographical Review of Dane County, WI. Chicago: Biographical Review Pub. Co. 1893. Vol I, pp 311-312 Abijah ABBOTT, the father of Charles F. ABBOTT, was among the early settlers of Madison, Dane County, WI, and his death, 28 Mar 1886, was mourned by a large circle of acquaintances and friends. The father of Abijah ABBOTT was born in Cornwall, Addison County, VT, coming of an old New England family whose ancestry hailed from the Albion shores. The parents of Abijah ABBOTT lived and died in VT, but their son, Abijah, started out early in life as a merchant at Middlebury, Addison County, VT, later changing his business to that of marble and granite dealer at Sudbury, Rutland County, VT, where he remained until 1855, when he shipped his stock to Madison, WI, and established the business in which his son, Charles F. ABBOTT, is now so successfully engaged, located on West Main Street. Abijah ABBOTT continued to manage his business until within a few years of his death. During his entire life in Madison Abijah ABBOTT was known as a worthy citizen and a stanch member of the Republican party. The Congregational Church received his hearty support, as he attended the services of that religious body. The wife of Abijah ABBOTT, Eveline P. (FIELD) ABBOTT, was also a native of Cornwall, Addison County, VT, a member of the old FIELD family that has been identified with the history of the country for so many years, Cyrus W. FIELD being a descendant of the same stock. This good woman and true wife passed away on 28 Jan 1886, in the membership of the Congregational Church. ABBOTT, Evaline P.
