MADISON / SUN PRAIRIE - Barbara J. Ackerman, age 74, passed
away on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003. She was born on May 23,
1929, in Madison, the daughter of Otto and Eva (Hanson)
Slinde. Barb graduated from East High School, class of 1947.
She also attended Madison Area Technical College and received
her LPN license., Barbara married Harold "Bud" Ackerman on
Feb. 17, 1979, in Cooksville, Wis. Barb worked at WPS
Insurance, until her retirement in 1992. After retiring she
enjoyed working with her daughter at the farmers' market for
the last 10 years. Barbara also enjoyed collecting antiques,
gardening, traveling, crossword puzzles, playing cribbage,
listening to good music and working on her computer. Her
biggest hobby was her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed
by her family and friends including her husband, Harold "Bud"
Ackerman of Sun Prairie;, her children, Lynn (Philip) Bednarek
of Cooksville, and, Diane (Steven Sr.) Reynolds of Deerfield;,
her grandchildren, Steven Jr. (Barb) Reynolds of Madison,
Scott (Debbie) Reynolds of Monona, Nellie Bednarek of
Cooksville, and Andrew Bednarek of Cooksville., She is further
survived by her step-sons, Barry (Sue) Ackerman of New York,
and Dale Ackerman of Florida;, her step-grandchildren, Kyle
Ackerman and Aaron Ackerman; and, her brothers, Bryce and
Bruce Slinde, both of Monona. She was preceded in death by her
parents; her first husband, Ingvald Stenrud; and a brother,
Steven Slinde. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Sept.
15, 2003, at 1 p.m. at the GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203
Monona Drive, with the Rev. Bruce Burnside presiding. A
visitation will be held on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003, from 3 p.m.
until 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the
