Sec 34, Lot MAUS04170E Capelle, George Curtis MADISON - George Curtis Capelle of Madison, age 89, passed away quietly Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003, at Alterra Wynwood West Assisted Living. He was born Sept. 21, 1914, in Newton, Mass., the son of George and Grace (Beckett) Capelle. He graduated from Marshfield High School in Massachusetts. He obtained a B.A. in civil engineering from Dartmouth College and was a member of Delta Upsilon. He served in World War II as an officer in the Navy Corps of Engineers. George married his first wife, Ann, and they had one child, George. Following the death of his first wife, Ann, he reunited with his high school sweetheart, Dorothy, and they married in 1984. George and Dorothy resided in Fitchburg until Dorothy's death in 2001. He is survived by his son, George (Billie) Capelle Jr. of Oregon; his granddaughter, Laraine Taylor of Nevada; two great-grandsons, Nicholas and Mitchell Taylor; a brother, Russ Capelle of New Hampshire; a nephew, Russ (Cheryl) Capelle of Virginia; a step-daughter, Sharon (Barney) Clark of Madison; a step-granddaughter, Wendy (Brian) Wells of Houston, Texas; step-great-grandchildren, Tyler and Zachary Wells; and a step-grandson, Bradley (Debbie) Clark of Naperville, Ill. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, with the Rev. Stephen W. Minnema officiating. The family wishes to thank Alterra Wynwood for their tender care during the last several years and with special thanks to Lois.
