DRAPER Photo can be seen at: http://www.usgwarchives.net/wi/dane/photos/tombstones/foresthills/draper863nph.jpg Image file size: 76.2 Kb DRAPER, Walter F. 19 Sep 1915- 27 May 1976 Sec 34 DRAPER, Alyce G. 29 Sep 1909- 03 May 2004 Draper, Alyce Grace Evans MADISON -Alyce Grace Evans Draper, a longtime Madison resident, passed away peacefully with family members present on Monday, May 3, 2004, at Attic Angel Health Center after a brief illness. Alyce was born on Sept. 29, 1909, on a farm in Big Hollow, near Spring Green, Wis. The mother of five children, she was the youngest child of Anna Marie (Hausladen) and John Charles Evans. Her children include Keith A. Pope of Hot Springs Village, Ark., Wayne E. Pope of Berkeley, Calif., W. James Draper of Madison, Margaret A. Draper of Coudersport, Pa., and Susan Draper-Fish of Madison. On Jan. 14, 1926, she married Floyd A. Pope of Spring Green. After their divorce, she raised her two little boys with the help of her parents. On Aug. 14, 1940, in St. Charles, Mo., she married Walter F. Draper of North Freedom, and enjoyed more than 35 years of marriage before Walt died on May 27, 1976. Alyce married Donald H. Reindahl of Oregon, Wis., on July 5, 1984. They enjoyed four years of companionship until he passed away on Nov. 23, 1988. Since 1953, Alyce was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish in Madison. She was also a charter member of the Westside Businessmen's Association, the Elks Club Woman's Auxiliary and was active in Kayra, several bowling leagues and multiple bridge and euchre card clubs over the years. She was employed by Meuer Photoart House in the 1930s. In later years, she was an assistant manger of Gimbel's Tasty Town Restaurant, hostess at Howard Johnson's Campus Restaurant and along with her husband Walt sold monuments for Spellman Monument Company. In addition to her children, she is survived by three daughters-in-law, Mary Jane de Young Pope, Alice Flores Pope and Victoria Laufenberg Enders-Draper; and two sons-in-law, Norman T. Hunt and Monte Dean Fish. Her 11 grandchildren, John, Maryde, James, Stephen, Michael, Kevin and Rita Pope, Lisa Pope-Fischer, Laura Draper, Heather Draper and Evan Hunt, will remember her remarkable memory and zest for life. She is also survived by seven great- grandchildren, Nicholas, Jennifer, Danielle, Jessica, Alysia, Sara and Charlise Pope. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; and two grandchildren, Wayne Brian Pope and Anna Marie Pope; as well as her sister, Margaret Rose Perry of Tacoma, Wash.; and her brother, Edward Anthony Evans of Madison. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 7, 2004, at 5 p.m. at OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE PARISH, 401 S. Owen Drive, Madison. Friends may call at the church from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Edgewood High school, Our Lady Queen of Peace or a charity of one's choice. Her family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. John Ewalt of Associated Physicians, HospiceCare and all the staff at Attic Angel Place, Middleton, Alyce's home for the past 11 years.
