Furchtenicht, Richard A.

MADISON - Richard A. Furchtenicht, age 76, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 
2005, at home in Madison. He was born Aug. 30, 1929, in St. Paul, Minn., the 
son of Henry and Sylvia (Anderson) Furchtenicht. He grew up in West Salem, was 
valedictorian of his high school graduating class and married Joyce Reed on 
Nov. 11, 1950, in Wauwatosa. Dick graduated from UW-Madison in 1952 and was a 
veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. He was employed by 
Eastman Kodak in Rochester, N.Y., for many years, and also worked for the 
Wisconsin Departments of Administration and Transportation. Prior to 
retirement, he was an insurance agent. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, and 
son, Alan of Madison; daughter, Jane (Douglas) Ferguson and grandchildren, 
Daniel and Sylvia Ferguson of Lake Oswego, Ore.; sister, Mary Smith of Baton 
Rouge, La.; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 
sister, Anne Scoledes; and his brother, Bruce. Graveside services for Richard 
will be held at FOREST HILL CEMETERY, 1 Speedway Road, at 1 p.m. on Friday, 
Oct. 14, 2005. The Rev. Christine Bethke of Devine Savior United Methodist
