Wed. 23 Dec 1908 KILLED BY A TRAIN Tony The Blacksmith Is Struck On Catfish Bridge Near Lake Waubesa WALKING TO MAC FARLAND Anton Grimmer, a blacksmith was killed by a St. Paul road train near a bridge a short distance west of Lake Waubesa about 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon. The engineer says he did not notice the man until it was too late. The remains were placed in the baggage car and taken to McFarland, and in the evening they were removed to this city by Coroner Lynch and taken to the undertaking establishment of O.A. Schroeder. The man was making the trip from Madison to McFarland on foot. Tony had been employed by blacksmiths in this vicinity for the past ten years. He was 62 years old and was born in Bavaria. He was divorced from his wife twelve years ago. A married daughter resides in Milwaukee.
