RES HENRY, Evelyn W. 29 Apr 1926-13 Nov 2005 Dau of Carroll S. and Ethel S. (SEYMOUR) WHITMER Born in Rockford, Ill. Sec 34, Lot MAUS-S515-CC Henry, Evelyn W OREGON - Evelyn W. Henry, age 79, passed peacefully into Life Everlasting on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Rockford, Ill., on April 29, 1926, to parents Ethel S. and Carroll D. Whitmer. Evelyn came to Madison at age six, and graduated from West High School in 1944. On April 7, 1945, she married the love of her life, Robert L. Henry. She was employed by the University of Wisconsin Hospital in 1944 and the State of Wisconsin Adjutant General's Office from 1949 to 1954. She later worked for the Greater Madison Convention and Visitors Bureau from 1974 until her retirement in 1988. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Madison, and after retiring to Florida, she joined Roser Memorial Church, Anna Maria, Fla. Evelyn was a member of the Manasota Genealogical Society and spent countless hours researching her family tree and writing books and articles. She is survived by her beloved husband, Robert; daughter, Jacquie (Mike) Caravello; grandson, Andrew Knox; granddaughter, Melissa Knox; great-grandchildren, Airelle, Madelline and Sam; niece, Jana Partain; and nephew James Johnson. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Denise Johnson. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, at FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, 518 N. Franklin Avenue, Madison. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to HospiceCare Inc. or the First Baptist Church. The family would like to thank the staff at the UW Hospitals and Clinics Cancer Center, the staff at UW Health, Oregon, HospiceCare Inc. and especially the wonderful staff at Sienna Crest Assisted Living, Oregon, who took such loving care of all of us during her final days. Also, thank you to all the friends and family for the visits, cards and prayers during her illness.
