Enlisted in Company D, 29th Infantry Regiment U.S. Colored Troops on 14 Oct 1864. Mustered Out Company D, 29th Infantry Regiment U.S. Colored Troops on 6 Nov 1865. 29th REGIMENT INFANTRY. (US COLORED TROOPS) Organized at Quincy, Ill., April 24, 1864. Ordered to Annapolis, Md., May 27, 1864, thence to Alexandria, Va. Attached to Defences of Washington, D. C., 22nd Corps to June, 1864. 2nd Brigade, 4th Division, 9th Corps, Army of the Potomac, to September, 1864. 2nd Brigade, 3rd Division, 9th Corps, to December, 1864. 3rd Brigade, 2nd Division, 25th Corps, and Dept. of Texas, to November, 1865. Moved to Texas May and June, and duty on the Rio Grande till November. Mustered out November 6, 1865. Regiment lost during service 3 Officers and 43 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 188 Enlisted men by disease.
