Jack Myers, age 85, passed away on March 9, 2004, at Meriter Hospital after a short illness. Jack was born on June 23, 1918, in Oshkosh, the son of the late Jack George Myers and Marie Ann Wilson. He graduated from the pharmaceutical school of UW-Madison in 1942. Jack was a navigator in the U.S. Navy serving during World War II in the South Pacific. He married Doris I. Varnum on April 3, 1943, in Madison. Jack was part owner of The Prescription Pharmacy Inc. in Madison. He was a volunteer for many civic organizations. Jack was one of the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin's most stalwart volunteers. In addition to numerous and sustained volunteer contributions, he served WPhA for 11 months as the organization's acting executive director in 1990. He was also a member of the Wisconsin Pharmacy Examining Board for three terms in the 1970s and 1980s. He enjoyed his yard and gardening. Jack is survived by his wife, Doris of Madison; four children, Jill (Ez) Siegler of Stoughton, Dave (Lynn) Myers of Madison, Lisa Heidt of Reedsburg, and Todd Myers of Madison; six grandchildren, Patrick (Melisa), Molly, Carey, Greg, Amanda (Jay) and Christina; and four great- grandchildren, Jacob, Lydia, Gabby and Allan. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2004, at ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2165 Linden Ave., Madison, with Pastor Patrick Siegler officiating. Friends may greet the family from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. A special thanks to Dr. Israel, Dr. Grant, nurses Tony, Mary, Jenny, Nicole, most especially Lauri; the staff on 6 tower at Meriter; and the staff at Inglenook, especially Wanda, June, Cathy and Sharon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or to the Alzheimer's Association.
