Ruth was born on Sept. 28, 1918, in Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Jesse and Christine (Peterson) Hull. She married Raymond Longfield on Feb. 26, 1949, in Madison. Ruth moved to the Madison area in 1936 and has never left. She worked as a department clerk in Smoked Meats at Oscar Mayer. In 1979, she retired from the company after 30 years. She volunteered for Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps and also acted as cook manager for Drums on Parade for several years. Ruth enjoyed reading Danielle Steel and tending to her flowers, impatiens being her favorite. She also loved visiting with her family including Jimmy Bonoanno and Jamie Beale. The family also wishes to thank the staff at Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion through this tough time. Survivors include her son, John and his wife, Pauline Longfield of DeForest; her granddaughter, Heather A. Longfield of DeForest; her brother, Morris and his wife, Theresa Hull of Colorado Springs, Colo.; her three sisters, Lucille BonoAnno of Madison, Geraldine Loomis of Chandler, Ariz., and Delberta Beer of Mesa, Ariz.; and several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; her brother, Marvin Hull; and her three sisters, Geneive Lindstrom, Connie Bellis and twin sister, Helen Hull. In her memory, a memorial has been established. Memorial services will be held on Friday July 29, 2005, at FITCHBURG CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP CHURCH, 2920 Fish Hatchery Road, Fitchburg, at noon. Pastor George Schlief will officiate. Visitation and greeting will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until noon.
