Sec 34, Lot MAUS-512-D Marx, Russell K. > MADISON -Russell K. Marx, age 77, passed away in his sleep on Thursday, March 18, 2004, at Oakwood Nursing Home, Madison. He was born on Dec. 25, 1926, in Milwaukee, to Alvin and Gertrude Marx. He grew up in Milwaukee and graduated from Rufus King High School. He started at UW- Milwaukee, and was inducted in the U.S. Army during World War II in the spring of 1944. Russell trained as a radio specialist. After the war, he moved to Madison. In 1950, he received his B.A. in agriculture at UW-Madison. Soon after, Russell started his 37 year career at the state seed lab. In 1953, Russell and Donna Marie were united in marriage, in Milwaukee. They made their home in Madison. That same year, Russell formed Madison Lawn Care, which he owned and operated. He enjoyed golf, jazz, collecting art, and was a longtime member of the Madison Print Club, Madison Jazz Society, Plato- Jazz Group and the UW Booster Club. He was also a longstanding member of Midvale Lutheran Church, where he contributed time in maintaining the rose garden. He is survived by his wife, Donna Marie; their three children, Donalee (her fiance Gerald Hoague), JoAnn and Daryl (Christine); four grandchildren, Rob, Lauren, Tyler and Ian; and a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Marx of Geneva, N.Y. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 22, 2004, at MIDVALE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 4329 Tokay Blvd., Madison. Visitation will be held at the church from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 21, 2004, and again on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, or to Midvale Lutheran Church.
