PAEPKE Photo can be seen at: http://www.usgwarchives.net/wi/dane/photos/tombstones/foresthills/paepke6497gph.jpg Image file size: 32.1 Kb PAEPKE, Marie H. 16 Dec 1920- 24 Jun 2005 Paepke, Marie Helga MADISON - Marie Helga Paepke, nee Andersen, age 84, of Madison, died peacefully at Don and Marilyn Anderson Hospice Center on Friday, June 24, 2005, with her son, Dave and daughter-in-law, LuAnn at her side. She had persevered through strokes, lung and bone cancer diagnosed in June 2004. Marie was born Dec. 16, 1920, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of Sigurd and Ella Andersen. She married Harold Paepke, April 1, 1944, in Brooklyn. She moved to Madison in 1948, but never lost all of her Brooklyn accent. She worked as a secretary including for WAVAI many years after raising her family. They loved to travel and camp, enjoying the outdoors, biking and golfing. Marie saw many jazz and big band concerts with Harold. She enjoyed the Fireside Christmas show for years either by Theater Bus or with her daughter-in-law. Marie volunteered for RSVP making hundreds of knit hats over the years. She passed the time with crosswords and reading romance novels. Marie loved a picnic with a good game of Scrabble. She also loved animals, especially the family dog, Skippy; and her cats, Snowball and Lotus, who are all waiting for her in heaven. She fed the birds religiously and the squirrels too. Marie enjoyed plants and flowers both indoors and out. Marie was a long term member and volunteer at Glenwood Moravian Church. She is survived by a daughter, Janet (Silvan) Frank, Union, Mo.; a son, Dave (LuAnn), Madison; a brother, Arnold Andersen; dearly missed by her sister, Eleanor (Eddie) Larsen; niece, Ellen Ioime; nephew, Cliff (Diane) Larsen; great nephews and great-great-nieces, all of Brooklyn, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Ethel Motelet; niece, Cam (John) Hill; nephew, Phil (Char) Motelet; more great-nieces, a nephew and great-great nephews in the Madison area; four grandchildren, Brad (Jennifer) Paepke, Janesville, Christopher (Karla) Frank, Washington, Mo., Kimberly Bailey, Union, Mo., and Andrew Paepke, Madison; and two great-grandchildren, Dakota Bailey and Ryan Glatz in Union, Mo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, Aug. 24, 1987; and son, Steven Paepke, Nov. 11, 1994. Funeral services will be held at the GLENWOOD MORAVIAN COMMUNITY CHURCH, 725 Gilmore St., on Monday, June 27, 2005, at noon with Pastor Mary Lou Plummer officiating. Private burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Madison. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Glenwood Moravian Community Church. Thank you to her special neighbor and friend, Pat Laubach, who was indispensable for her care and friendship with Marie. Jeanne Annen and Char Thomson added to Marie's care and close circle of friends. Hospice workers, Sheila and Patricia connected with Marie over time and made her laugh in times of need.
