(CARROLL) SMITH Born in Edgerton, Rock Co., Wi. He was a Master Welder SP4 US ARMY VIETNAM Smith, Charles P. II "Charlie" MADISON - Charles P. "Charlie" Smith II, age 58, died on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006, at his home after a long illness. Charlie was born July 14, 1948, in Edgerton, the son of Charlie and Bert Smith. He attended Madison Public Schools, graduating from West High School in 1966. In 1968 Charlie enlisted in the Army and served for 15 months in Vietnam as a member of the First Armored Division. Over the years he worked in property management, plastic fabrication and as a Master welder. Charlie was an avid hunter and fisherman, often bringing home a buck from Adams County. He also enjoyed boating and water skiing. He is survived by his parents, Charlie and Bert Smith of Madison; his daughter, Tonya (Tim) Vike of Stoughton; his grandchildren, Russell and Brooke; his brother, Steve (Jeanne) Smith of Madison; his sister, Megan and her partner Jen Kern of Seattle, Wash.; and his sister, Haley of Greensboro, N.C. Chuck loved his family and his many friends and treasured his time with them. He was dearly loved by all who knew him. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, Sept. 29 2006, at ST. MARIA GORETTI CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5313 Flad Ave. (Orchard Ridge), Madison, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church on Friday, with Monsignor Michael Burke presiding. Friends are invited to join the family at a luncheon following the service. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that any memorial gifts be made to Russell and Brooke's Education Fund, c/o Smith, 6401 Offshore Drive, Apt. 101, Madison, WI 53705.
