Sternberg, Aleksandr A. 
MADISON - Aleksandr A. Sternberg, age 72, of Madison died on Friday, Jan. 24, 
2003, at UW Hospital following a long illness., He was born on Oct. 21, 1930, 
in Kiev Ukraine, the son of Aleksandr M. and Elizaveta (Leshinsky) Sternberg., 
He devoted his life to research and clinical work as an Orthopedic Surgeon in 
Moscow and Moscow District for over 50 years., In 1994 he and his family moved 
to the United States, settling in Madison., He is survived by his loving wife, 
Liliana Birukova of Madison; two children,, Alexander (Helen) Sternberg of 
Madison, and Julia (Alexander) Krichevsky of Madison; and four grandchildren,, 
Alina and Pasha Sternberg and Boris and Luba Krichevsky, all of Madison, who 
loved him dearly and are grieving his passing., A visitation will be held from 
3 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, at the JOYCE-RYAN FUNERAL HOME,
