Sec 34, Lot MAUS-N404-C WASHA, Janet Elizabeth 22 Sep 1911- 27 Aug 2004 Dau of Harry Gilbert and Evelyn (SKELTON) BROWN Sec 34, Lot MAUS-N404-C Washa, Janet E. MADISON - Janet E. Washa, age 92, passed away on Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, at Harbor House Assisted Living. She was born on Sept. 22, 1911, the daughter of Harry and Evelyn Brown. Janet attended high school in Milwaukee, and later earned a bachelor's degree in art education at UW-Madison. Janet married George Washa on June 23, 1934, in Milwaukee. George became a professor and head of the engineering mechanics department at UW-Madison. Janet was active in university life and president of the UW Women's League and on the Methodist Hospital planning board. In the manner of the 1950s, Janet led a life of devotion to the family. In 1941, the family moved to Shorewood Hills. Their lives became forever defined by the warmth and family-like atmosphere of that wonderful village. Janet out-lived most of her university and Shorewood Hills friends, but not their memories. Square dancing, bridge, financial clubs, church and university functions filled her life. Was her life quite average? Perhaps, but to her husband, her sons, her relatives and friends, she was simply the best. Janet is survived by her three sons, Larry (Jane) Washa of Fountain Valley, Calif., Craig (Polly) Washa of Marshfield, Mass., and Jon Washa and Winnie Baker of Madison; six grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; and Fred (Mary) Washa of Muskego. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Washa; and her sister, Dorothy Jones. A private family service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004. Memorials can be made to the University of Wisconsin Foundation.
