Her obit is from the Mazomanie Sickle, Mazomanie, Dane Co., WI. Fri. 22 Mar 1907: MRS. THOS. GORST Mrs. Thomas Gorst, (nne) Appleton, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harry Walters, Saturday, March 16, 1907, at the age of 88 years, 6 mos. and 6 days. Mary Ann Appleton was born on the Isle of Man, England, September 9th, 1818. At the age of four years she moved with her parents to Liverpool. She was there married to THomas Gorst Aoril 8, 1838, in St. Peters church, Liverpool. They came to America in the year 1846. To them ten children were born. Eight reamin to mourn her death, the other two having died in infancy. She was a true, loving wife and an affectionate mother. Her husband preceeded her twenty-one years ago. The children are Mrs. Chas. Yunge, of White, S.D. Mrs. Ellis Barlow and Mrs. Fanny Bonner, of Clear Lake, Iowa, Robert of Mazomanie, Thomas of Arena, Mrs. Harry Walters, of the old homestead. Mrs. Fred Brown and James of Arena. Deceased was a member of the M.E. church and lived a true and faithful christian life to the end, and trusting in her Savior, prayed to the end. All the children were present at the funeral but Mrs. Yunge. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. O.B. Croxall, with services at the home at one o'clock, and later at the Mounds Creek brick church. The remains were interred in the Mazomanie cemetery.
