Born on 30 Nov 1875 in Dodgeville, Iowa Co., Wi.
Died 19 Jun 1947 in Madison, Dane Co., Wi.
Son of Owen Thomas and Catherine (FINNEGAN) McMAHAN.
Married 29 Nov 1906 in N.D.

Obituary from the Wisconsin State Journal, Madison, Dane Co., Wi., 20 June 
1947:
McMAHAN RITES Pallbearers Saturday for Mike McMahan, 71, of
517 1/2 W. Doty st., who died Wednesday, will be Henry
Armbricht, Guy Dodge, W.P. Riley, WIlliam McDermott, James
Howley and Gregory Gorst. Services will be held at 8:30 a.m.
in the Joyce funeral home and at 9 in the St. Raphael's
Catholic cathredral. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. William Mahony eill
officiate and burial will be in Calvary cemetery.
 

FYI: Calvary is now called Resurrection cemetery.
 
An obituary ran in the  Capital Times newspaper, Madison, Dane
Co., Wi., 20 June 1947. It is the same as the one in the
Wisconsin State Journal,

Born 07 Sep 1887 in the Villiage of Nira, Washington Co., IA.
Died 03 May 1975 in Madison, Dane Co., WI.
Dau of Tobias and Elizabeth (SEARLE) STAPLETON
Married 29 Nov 1906 in N.D.
Mother
Born in Nira, Iowa, but  was attending school with her
siblings at Lakeview School #1, in Towner Co. North Dakota, by
Nov 06, 1905. Lakeview Township is now called  Mount View
Township. Her youngest brother was born in Rolla, in the
neighboring Co. of Rollette. Evidently Lakeview Township, and
Rolla are close to each other? Which one did they live in? How
did they get there? When did they get there? She is listed in
a school souvneir book Nov 1905-June 1906 at Lakeview School
inTowner Co., North Dakota. She was married and had Leo by Aug
of 1907. How did she meet Michael, when were they married
etc.... Betty McMahan on her grandma Phronia: " She was the
hub of the family. Everyone loved her and she made each of us
feel special. I think we all secretly thought we were ther
favorite(except for Leo). She encouraged me to go to New York
if that is what I wanted to do. She said'Do things when you
are young. It is no good when you are old.' She was so proud
when I graduated from thecollege-the first McMahan to
graduate. In my eyes she had no negatives."
