William McMahan is the paternal grandfather of movie/t.v. actor Bruce Boxleitner. Birth:Baptism:From parish baptismal register, St. Philips, highland, Wi. Sponsers:Michael Bennet and Mary McWeeney. From a chat with Leo McMahan, he said of all Owen's generation, Willie was the only one without the "McMahan" work ethic. That the other brothers would get mad that the women doted on him. Willie eventually was a sucessful barber, even though he had no formal training. Obituary, The Wisconsin State Journal, Madison, Dane Co., WI, Sept.27, 1972: William McMahan, 84, of 400 Starling Lane, was found dead late tuesday night(Sept. 26, 1972) in his mobile home at the Oak Park Trailer Court. Coroner Clyde Chamberlain Jr. said death was caused by a heart ailment for which Mr. McMahan had been treated several months. There are no known survivors in the Madison area, Chamberlain said. The funeral will be arranged at the Joyce Funeral Home, 540 W. Washington Ave. Obituary, The Capital Times, Madison, Dane Co., WI, Sept. 27, 1972: W.L. McMahan is Dead at 84 William L. McMahan, 84, of 400 Starling Lane, was found dead late Tuesday night in his mobile home at the Oak Park Trailer Court. He was a retired Madison barbershop operator. Coroner Clyde Chamberlain Jr., said death was caused by a heart ailment for which Mr. McMahan had been treated several months. Born in Clyde, Iowa Co. in 1888, he had lived in Madison most of his life. He moved to Prairie du Chien in 1969, but moved back to Madison in July of this year. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Clifford Boxleitner, Mt. Prospect, Ill; a son Keith, in Hawaii, and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Patrickk's Catholic Church here, with Msgr Francis E. Doherty officiating. Burial will be in Ressurection cemetery. There will be no visitation. The Joyce Funeral Home, 540 W. Washington Ave., is in charge of the arrangements.
