WAUPUN/MADISON- Josephine R. Weeks died on Friday June 27, 2003 in Columbia County when she was struck by a train. Josephine was born on June 15, 1931 in Madison the daughter of John Baptist & Conchera (Salerno) Raimond. Josephine graduated from the Wisconsin School of Music and The Fine Arts Institute of Chicago, Ill. She performed on radio, television, had leads in musicals, concert stage and gave many years to church work. She was dedicated to teaching music. Her students are part of her extended family. On July 9, 1955, Josephine married Glenn R. Weeks, at St. Joseph Catholic, Church, Madison, Wis. They met singing in St. James choir where Marie A. Endres directed and Olive P. Endres was organist and composer. The sisters also played at their Wedding Mass and their stringed quartet performed at their reception. Josephine and Glenn lived in Maryland and Pennsylvania where Glenn served in the army and then worked for US Steel. He was a dedicated runner. They gave birth to three daughters while in Pennsylvania. They moved to Waupun, Wis. in September of 1966. Glenn worked as Personnel Manager at the Waupun State Prison. While making their new home in Waupun, Josephine continued to teach music, she taught pre-school, religious church school, and directed the church choir at St_ Joseph's Catholic Church, Waupun. She was involved in Girl Scouting, taught many classes at the Craft Center and served as its Director for two years. Josephine loved to read and write, to walk in the woods and sit at the water's edge. She marveled of God and nature. Survivors include her beloved husband, Glenn; three devoted and much loved daughters, Faith Weeks of Mundelin, Ill., and her children, Christen Georges and Bryan Christopher Weeks; Hope Anne W. Moore (Nicholas) of Roma, Italia and their children, Dylan Raimond and Owain Glenn; Joy Marie Dechant (Daniel J.) of North Glenn, Colo., and their children, Bradley Joseph, Timothy Daniel and Cassandra Joy. Sisters- in- law; brothers-in-law; God-children, nephews, nieces, cousins, music students and good friends also survive her. She was preceded in death by her earth father, John Baptist Raimond on Jan. 31, 1994; her mother, Conchera Salerno Raimond, Dec. 7, 1996; a loving sister, Vincella A. Krause, Oct. 17, 1997; her cousin, Josephine A. Petratta, friend and confidant, Aug 31, 1998; Aunt Rosie Barbato, "Badger Bosie" Dec. 18, 1999. A memorial service will be held at the ST. JAMES CATHOLIC CHURCH 1128 St. James Court on Wednesday July 2, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. Monsignor Thomas Baxter will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, if desired memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
