HIGGINS, Jeremiah Mathew 
29 Dec 1904- 30 Dec 1945
Born and died in Mazomanie, Dane Co., Wi.
Son of Jeremiah Mathew and Mary E. (McMAHAN) HIGGINS

This is a partial obit from a torn newspaper article found
in his grandmothers papers.

......Mr. Higgins suffered a broken back when a stairway
fell on him while a schoolhouse was being razed  at
Mazomanie. He was in bed for years; then was able to use a
wheelchair which was made for him by Arne Lerwick, Madison
fireman.

When able to get around the village he became villiage he
became the  clerk, sold insurance and magazines, was a
member of the Boy Scout council, and was Mazomanie
correspondent for the Capital Times.

Before his injury he was an athletic star with Mazomanie
high school, and afterward retained his interst in sports.
Lerwick and Joseph "Roundy" Coughlin, State Journal
columbist, once took him to see his first big leagur
baseball fame in Chicago, and University of Wisconsin
footballs. 

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday in St.
Barbanas Catholic church, the Rev. Joseh V. Cieciorka
officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Dau of Owen Thomas and Catherine (FINNEGAN) McMAHAN
Married Jeremiah Matthew Higgins on 18 Nov 1902 in Mazomanie, Dane Co., Wi.
