Mary Dorothy Finley was born on Feb. 2, 1912, to Timothy and Margaret (Dagnon) Finley in Freeman Township, Crawford County. She was a 1928 graduate of Seneca High School and later she completed the course of study for rural education at LaCrosse State Teacher's College. She taught for six years in Crawford County Rural Schools. She was married to Claude Leary on June 8, 1936. They farmed near Seneca until 1963. They then moved to DeForest and were employed by American Breeders Service until retirement in 1976, when they moved to Mazomanie. Dorothy moved to Stoughton in 1995. She is survived by seven children, Eileen (Richard) Dickman of Stoughton, Ruth Ann (Robert) Ries of Milton, Jane Wadell of West Hills, Calif., John (Jan Rowen) Leary of Louisville, Colo., James Leary of Santa Fe, N.M., Patricia (Tim) Lubinsky of Ripon, and Joanna (William) Gaynor of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister, Rosella Wachuta of Prairie du Chien; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1989; her parents; brothers, Maurice, LeRoy, Stephen, James and Raymond; sisters, Bernadine Finley and Margaret Moran; and daughter-in-law, Karin Leary. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 24, 2005, at 11 a.m. at ST. ANN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 324 N. Van Buren St., Stoughton. Monsignor Gerard Healy will officiate. Interment will take place in St. Barnabas Cemetery, Mazomanie. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. Remembrances may be given in her name to the Nazareth House, 814 Jackson St., Stoughton. The family would like to thank the staff of Nazareth House for their continuous support and care of Dorothy.
