Holtan, Austin B. 
STOUGHTON - Austin B. Holtan, age 93, passed away peacefully
on Friday evening, Oct. 17, 2003, at the Stoughton Hospital.
He was born on the family farm in Stoughton on Nov. 6, 1909, a
son of the late Austin Sr. and Tilla (Rinden) Holtan. Austin
married Gladys Hanson on Feb. 5, 1935, in Rockford, Ill., and
together they farmed in the Utica area for their whole lives.
He was a lifetime member of the West Koshkonong Lutheran
Church and a member of the Church Grass Cutters. His family
was his whole life, and especially loved spending time with
his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed
golfing and playing cards. Austin is survived by his wife,
Gladys of Stoughton; his daughter, Marlene (Dick) Kreuger of
Cottage Grove; his son, Richard (Susan) Holtan of Las Vegas,
Nev.; a special friend, Patty (nee Hvam) Strasburg; six
grandchildren, Kris (Stacy) Joannes, Lisa (Mike) Walters, Dale
(Cindy) Kreuger, Michael (Kristine) Kreuger, Susan (Jeff)
Bush, all of the Stoughton area, and Julie Kreuger of New
Orleans, La.; seven great-grandchildren, Michael, Alex, Megan,
Mackenzie, Abby, Austin, and Nicholas; and many nieces,
nephews, relatives, and friends further survive. He was
preceded in death by his sister, Leanore; and two brothers,
Throne, and Reuben. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday,
Oct. 21, 2003, at 11 a.m. at WEST KOSHKONONG LUTHERAN CHURCH,
1911 Koshkonong Road, Stoughton. The Rev. Richard Dowling will
officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The
family will greet friends on Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, from 4
p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. The family would like
to thank Dr. Joyce Brehm, the staff at the Carrington and
Skaalen Home, and the nursing staff at the Stoughton Hospital
for all their wonderful care. In lieu of flowers, the family
would like memorials to be contributed to the West Koshkonong
Lutheran Church., Olson-Holzhuter-Cress 206 W. Prospect Ave.
