We had the opportunity, on Saturday last, of testing the veracity of those Merchants in Fox Lake who are and had been advertising with us, and now no longer wonder that ever one, men women and children, go so well dressed in that vicinity, since it costs so little to do so. Why C. L. Noble sells a great many goods for a very little money, and besides that he makes a large discount to persons who take a whole waggon load. Porter & Brother are doing a heavy business, and can well afford to sell their goods low, and Townsend Brothers are just giving their goods away. These are facts that many of our readers in the vicinity of Fox Lake have long been aware of, but have been keeping it to themselves lest by its getting noised abroad they might be so overrun with customers as to raise the price of their goods, but we believe the effect has been different, for by advertising and thus increasing their business they are enabled to sell even cheaper than heretofore, which any one can readily ascertain by giving them a call. We believe the other merchants are also doing a good business, and expect, as soon as they get a paper going there, to see them make their business known through the medium of its columns, meantime we shall be happy to do anything they may want in our line.
