Miner Porter, of Fox Lake, who has heretofore been a regular hard-shell whig, was in our office yesterday, and said inasmuch as the shanghais of this place had seen fit to hang the editor of this paper by the neck, and had commenced their usual work of proscription, he would take our daily paper; and that he would double it as often as they should repeat their insults. He also says they have counted noses in Fox Lake, where the Republicans claim everything, and that the know nothings cannot have twenty majority in that town. That's the way it works, gentlemen. - "FREE SPEECH, FREE LABOR, FREE MEN."
