On Friday last, as George Loomis, son of Alfred Loomis, Esq., of this city, was near the depot, in a waggon [sic] with Miss Laura Howe, the horse attached to the waggon [sic] became frightened, running away, throwing them both out and running completely over George. They were picked up insensible, and fears were entertained that they were both fatally injured, though, we are happy to learn, they have so far recovered as to nearly relieve all serious apprehensions. Miss Howe had her ancle [sic] put out of joint, while George was cut and bruised all over, having quite a gash on the back part of his head, another under his chin, and scratches and marks on various parts of his body. It is supposed the horse stepped upon his head, though it is now thought he will recover. The horse was scared by the locomotive. No blame is attached to any one.
