Column: ? INSANE. - We regret to learn that Mr. N. B. [Nathan Bradley] Porter, a respectable and well known farmer of Trenton, is, for the present at least, hopelessly insane. Fear of poverty and starvation is a prominent feature of his madness, which has been growing upon him for the past three months. Last week he wanted to kill his wife [Eliza Ann (Cornell) Porter], some of the younger children and himself, that the others of the family might live, and he would have done it had he not been prevented. On Monday last he was taken, in charge of Hon. S. D. Burchard, to the Insane Hospital at Oshkosh. [Nathan was the second child of Joel Porter and Betsey Porter.
