The circumstances as near as we can learn are as follows: Mr. Brown arose in the morning feeling as well as usual, and after eating his breakfast went out to look after some chores which was his usual habit. Mr. McDonald in passing by the alley saw him lying on the ground and went to him, finding him in an unconscious condition. He called for aid which was close at hand, and Mr. Brown was carried into his house. Dr. Fowler was immediately summoned, who upon examination pronounced him dead. Less than an hour had lapsed from the time he left the house until he was carried back. His health had not been good for some time, and together with his old age he was rather feeble, but the immediate cause of death was paralysis of the heart. The funeral services were held yesterday at his late residence, conducted by the Masonic fraternity of this city, Rev. Walker of Dubuque, officiating. His remains were put on the evening train and taken to Iron Ridge, Wisconsin, his former home, for interment, the place where rest the remains of his first wife. Mr. Brown has been a citizen of Bellevue for over twenty years and at the time of his death was seventy-six years of age.
