Obituary: Dodge County, Wisconsin: Gershown NOYES ************************************************************************ Submitted by Kathy Grace, April 2008 © All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Sentinel and Gazette, October 18, 1839 p.2 Obituary - In Clyman, Dodge county, on the 1st of Oct. inst., Gershown Noyes, aged 86 years. The deceased was a soldier of the Revolution, and Orderly Sergeant of the Rangers at Fors Ticonderoga and Independence, in the Vermont State Tropps, for a part of which service he drew a pension. He was born in Stonington, Conn., July 8th, 1764; thence moved to Guilford, Vermont, and enlisted in the service in 1781; from thence moved to Chenango, New York in 1805. He lived with the companion of his youth, upwards of 50 years, and raised a family of nine children to mature age, and saw the third generation; soon after her death, he moved to Wisconsin in 1847. Thus another who struggled for the birth of our nation, and lived long to see its prosperity and enjoy its freedom, has gone to his rest.
