Reads as follows: Carl Porter, Fox Lake, Dead Funeral service are being held at the Congregational church in Fox Lake at two o'clock this afternoon for Mr. Carl Schurz Porter, prominent resident of that city, who died at his home there Tuesday after a brief illness. The services are being conducted by Rev. A. E. Wichman of this city and interment will be in Waushara cemetery at Fox Lake. He was born September 22nd, 1862, in the town of Trenton, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan B.[Bradley] Porter, and received a portion of his education at the normal school in Mayville. Surviving is his wife and a son, Colby Porter of Fox Lake, two grandsons and one granddaughter. A son, Mark preceded him in death. Mr. Porter was at one time a member of the Dodge County Board of Supervisors, president of the Dodge County Fair association and a member of the association's board for several years. He served as presidential elector for Theo. Roosevelt and Fairbanks. He made his home on a farm in the town of Trenton until going to Fox Lake in 1900 where he opened a farm implement business. From 1905 to 1912 he served as a state factory inspector. Later he established a grain business at Fox Lake with Allen Proctor [of Beaver Dam, WI], later assuming full ownership. This business is now in charge of his son [he assumed the business in 1934]. Mr. Porter was affiliated with the Masonic order. [Information in brackets added by the transcriber, William W.
