O. Caryville, Dunn county, was born in Thowford*, [* = see corrections below] England, December 1, 1825, a son of William and Sarah (Sane**) Andrews, who were born in the same vicinity. After receiving a common school education he worked on the farm for some time, then began to learn the trade of thatching, at which he worked for some years in England. He then came to American and settled at Strongsville, Cuyahoga county, Ohio, where he engaged in farming for about five years, and then came to Rock Creek township, Dunn county, Wis., where he bought 280 acres of land and began to clear away the timber. He now has 120 acres under a fine state of cultivation. He married in February, 1857, Miss Mary Melrose, a native of Scotland, who has borne him four children: William G., George W., John M. and Daniel W. In politics Mr. Andrews has always been a republican, and in religious matters is a believer in the Church of England. -- Transcribed as found in the book "Historical and Biographical Album of the Chippewa Valley Wisconsin, 1891-2," page 893 CORRECTIONS (as provided by William Andrews ) * = Thowford is actually THORNFORD, DORSET COUNTY ** = Sane is actually LANE (NOTE--Sam claimed affiliation with the Church of England or Anglican/Episcopal Church to fend off the many attempts to "convert him" to other local churches!) --WJA
