He was born in Otsego County, New York, in 1834. He was brought up to the mercantile business. He came to Menomonie in 1873, and assumed his present position. He attends solely to buying goods, not only for the main store at Menomonie, but for supplying all the mercantile branches of the extensive business of this firm. His wife was Miss Emma E., daughter of John D. Griffin, born in Otsego County, New York.
