He acquired his elementary education in the village school, and subsequently attended the Menomonie High School and Northwestern University at Watertown, Wis. After his return home he became his father's assistant on the home farm and worked in that capacity until 1898. In that year he gave up agriculture for mercantile life, becoming manager of the Farmers Cooperative Store in the village of Elk Mound. Until 1902 he remained in that position and then, being prepared to enter into business for himself, he bought out the stockholders and has since operated the store on his own account, also carrying on an implements business. In addition to this he has dealt extensively in real estate and owns several business blocks and dwelling-houses in the village, besides three farms in the town of Elk Mound. He is a stockholder in the Elk Mound creamery and his reputation as a representative business man is not confined to Elk Mound but extends all over Dunn County. -Transcribed from the "History of Dunn County Wisconsin, 1925," page 818 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm
