According to the Town of New Haven Meeting Minutes dates April 12, 1867, this school district was formerly known as district # 3 of Menomonie. Formally becoming District #3 of New Haven on this date. The first school building was that of a log house. The 2nd Bolan school building was a one-room schoolhouse in section 29 of New Haven Township. The building was built around 1888. The school housed up to 40 students at one time, with one schoolteacher present. The school was a log building that sat near the Bolan Creek. In about 1924 the school was moved to higher ground, a basement was included and more room was added onto. The school then sat on what the children called “Huckleberry Bluffs” The hill next to the school provided excellent sledding and sliding and skiing for the students. The monthly pay salary for a schoolteacher ranged from $30.00 in 1901 to $40.00 in 1909. One of the early schoolteachers was Bertie Perry in 1886 (Later married to Herbert Bulman) The schoolteachers for Bolen School were:1901-Albert Thomas, 1902-Alice Prutt, and Albert Thomas, 1903-Mae Hunter, Elsie Peterson, GG Braker and Clyde Mason. 1904-Ethel Doolittle, 1905-Laura Diffendorfer and Elsie Mathews, 1906-Julie Hill, and Eliza Swartz, 1907-Roy Repp, 1908-Emma Kinney, and Jeannie Klingman, 1909-Margarette Hayes, Kate Kelly, and Olive Harrington, 1910-Lizzie Hilmer, Martha Lanfall, and Ella Webert, 1911-Carol Schellinger, 1912-Lora Tufs, and Esther Ausman, 1913-Esther Ausman, 1914-Eva Bourasau, 1915-Hazel Clark, 1916-Robert Diller, 1917-Josie Forseth, 1918-Stella Walseth, 1919-Josephine Schellinger, 1920-Josephine Schellinger, 1921-Lola Bygd, 1922-Ada McLaughlin, 1923-Daisy Snyder, 1924-Daisey Snyder, 1925-Derda Edes, 1926-Geneva Swenby 1927-Alto Baker, 1928-Clara Boehm, 1929-George McLeod, 1930-Mary Cunningham, 1931-Ella Hayes , D. It was moved to the corner of State Hwy 64 and County Road Q. The old school bell sits in the front yard as a memory of days gone by.
