The land for this school was donated by the Omaha Railroad Company. The first Log school building sat on the town road to the east of where this school building sat. (Later the property becoming the Forseth Farm) Fire destroyed this building and a new one was constructed at a different location. The 2nd Forest Grove School building was a one room schoolhouse located in section 29 (New Haven Township). It once sat on the east side of County Road V. The cost of this school building was $152.00 The original school record books show that the 1st log school house was built in 1876, the second school building being built in 1894. The building was remodeled in 1923. About 51 students attended this schoolhouse at a time. The playground was well equipped with a Giant Slide, a swing and a teeter-totter. Mrs. Lawrence Carver was a music teacher, so she would hold music lessons for the students. She entered them into the County wide competition, the students sang Swing Low Sweet Chariot and won first place in the song fest competition. Dale Lunke taught at Forest Grove School for 2 ½ years. He boarded with the Norman Johnson family. He left teaching because he was drafted into the service. Many of the students arrived to school at 7:30 am so that they could get a ball game going before the school bell rang. Sometimes after school a ball game between Forest Grove School and Hilson School was arranged. This was always a treat for everyone. During the winter months when the wood stove was in the basement, the building would be chilly when students arrived in the mornings. So they would play follow the leader around the classroom to warm up. The Forest Grove School was heated with a kerosene stove. This was very welcome to the students; many of whom would bring soup and have a hot lunch thanks to the stove. Forest Grove School was torn down in 1960 by Art Bygd.
