The name of the school was at that time “Connorsville School”. Later on the name was changed to Peaceful Valley. The school was located right below New Haven Cemetery. This school house was a large one room building with one teacher. The building had a large front door entrance and about 16 steps. Upon entering the building there was a large hallway. The bathroom was located to the left side of the hallway. The main room had a good sized “gymnasium” to it. A furnace room was located in the school and the older boys took care of keeping the fires going. At one time there were any where from 23-32 students. There was a full basement under this structure. In later years this school had chemical toilets. The furnace sat in the upstairs right next to the teacher’s desk. The playground equipment was that of a swing and sleds. On April 16 1881, the teacher was J. W. Best. There were 32 students attending this school.
