Everyone is welcome. The purpose of the party is to aid national defense by the purchase of defense bonds with the proceeds. Lunch will be furnished by the auxiliary members. A miscellaneous shower was tendered Effie Jents in the Methodist church basement Wednesday afternoon. A picnic lunch was served after the gifts were opened. Miss Jents will wed E. A. Johnson of Rockford, Ill., this week. A surprise birthday party was tendered Mrs. Martin Nelson Friday afternoon by a group of friends from Glenwood City and Hay River. They presented her with gifts, a birthday cake and lunch. Mrs. W. Wittenkamp left Saturday for Los Angeles, Cal., with her daughter, Mrs. Don Sutliff, where they will reside. Mrs. Sutliff has remained here with her mother, assisting in the drug store since the death of her father last December. H. B. Hoel, Baldwin, has taken over the business as druggist here. Carrie Fennie left Saturday to return to Fort Worth Tex., after spending seven months here with her mother, Mrs. Christine Fennie, and other relatives. Mrs. Harry J. Rosek, Rush City, Minn., came Monday to remain indefinitely with her mother, Mrs. W. Wakefield. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Norem returned to their home here Friday from DeKalb, Ill., after an absence of almost a year. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bergee and daughter spent the week with relatives at New York Mills, Minn., and with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Bruer at Alberta, Minn.
