This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Nance Sampson 4 August 2000 ==================================================================== SAMUEL ELLIS, Eau Claire, was born in the town of Springfield, Erie Co., Pa., Nov. 1, 1822, and when twenty years of age came to La Grange, Walworth Co., where he engaged in carpenter and joiner work, and in farming. In 1856 or 57, he went to Palmyra, and run an hotel there until May 1, 1861, when he came to Eau Claire, and engaged in the livery business, which he has since continued. He was married, in La Grange, to Amanda Adams, who was born in New York State, and died soon after marriage, leaving one son, William E., now of Texas. He was married to his present wife, Harriet French, in Palmyra, Jefferson, Co.
