He has always been a farmer near Augusta, where he still resides. He held the office as road commissioner and is a veteran of the civil war. He served from 1864 to 1865 in the 43rd Illinois Infantry, Company F. In 1868 he married Miss Franziska Krisch, who was born in 1852, in Bohemia, Germany.
