Neher, druggist in the city of Eau Claire was born at Sauk City, Sauk county, in 1857; of German descent. His parents came from Germany in 1852 and to Eau Claire in 1861, where they died. Mr. John C. Neher learned at first the trade of bookbinder, then studied photography and finally entered in the drug business. For many years he conducted a flourishing drug business in the city of Eau Claire, from which he retired in 1910. Since 1911 he has been state druggist inspector. In 1885 he was married to Miss Josephine Sturm, who also is a native of Wisconsin; from German descent. --Taken from "The History of Eau Claire County, 1914, Past & Present", page 568.
