Wilhelm Schnittke, born in Prussia, Germany, in 1840.  Was soldier in German 
army and fought in the wars of 1866 and 1870-71.  Came to America in 1873 
and to Eau Claire county in 1891.  Settled in the town of Pleasant Valley, 
on a farm, where he still lives.  He married, in 1868, Friederike Schwolow, 
who also was born in Germany.
