Both were born on the farm of Jødingen, in the town of Skjåk, Oppland Norway. They came to the US in 1866 and settled in township of Grant in Dunn County (where the parents bought a farm) and Eau Claire, WI where the grown-up children moved. +++ Ashland Lime, Salt & Cement Co. Office 523 West Second Street Ashland, Wisconsin September 26, 1891 Dear Sister I have been out home but but did not go through Eau Claire. Pa and Ma is pretty fair. Its too bad that they have to stay there alone. Tom (the old drunk) ought to go there and stay. I have a dog 3 months old that I am going to send you by express (charges paid) for Pa. He will make them a good dog and when Julius goes out after his car I wish he would take the dog out for them. Ma 'says' he can come and get the car any time now. We start for Colorado next week or week after. Mrs Lamb is going with me. She thought some of going home and staying until spring but we have changed our minds as that it is hardly safe for me to go out alone. Mrs. Lamb thinks. I am a poor hand to write. Mrs. Lamb will write you. Mary is such pretty writer and Mrs Lamb is very pleased to receive her letters.. Mrs. Lamb is very, very good to me all of the time.
