Auer, 88, Dead;Resident Here Since 6 Months Old Mrs. Louisa Kneer Auer, 88, a resident of this community for most of her lifetime, died at 10:55 Tuesday night at the Sacred Heart hospital. Born in Watertown, Wis., September 21, 1856 and came to Eau Claire at the age of six months by ox-team with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Matthias Kneer. She was the oldest of eight children eight children and the last survivor. In 1883 she was married to John Jacob Auer, then a businessman of Durand and lived there for nine years. In 1892 they moved to Eau Claire where Mr. Auer published the German newspaper "Der Herold" until it was discontinued in 1918. Mr. Auer died in 1927. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. J.B. Ellis of Maquoketa, Ia., and two sons, Frank and Norman of Eau Claire, also five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held today at 4 p.m. at the Putnam Memorial chapel, Forest Hill cemetery, the Very Rev. Dean Victor Hoag will officiate."
