Babcock passed away Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1915 at 6:30 p.m. at the home of her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Norton of Augusta with whom she had lived since last September, a year. Her departure was easy. Four weeks before her death came, a second stroke of paralysis caused her to fall and break her right hip, the side affected by the first stroke. Mrs. Babcock was born in Connecticut, January 16, 1830. At the age of sixteen, in the state of Ohio, she was married to David R. Babcock. After living eight years in Ohio they migrated to Wisconsin and located in the southern part of the state. Sometime later they settled on a farm in Thompson Valley and lived about Augusta during the last fifty years. Mrs. Babcock outlived her husband by fourteen years, was the mother of three boys and two girls, the oldest surviving and living in Mott, South Dakota. One brother survives her, Mr. John Norton, of Augusta. She was among the members of the Thompson Valley M.E. church. Funeral services were held last Sunday, January 2, at noon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Norton. Interment in Thompson Valley cemetery. Rev. C.H.
