Betz. He was born September 24, 1830 in Wurtemberg, Germany. At the age of 18 years he, with his brother, John, came to this country and a few years later his mother, with his sister Barbara, and brother George, followed. They spent nine years near Philadelphia, Penn. He then came to Wisconsin and settled on the farm, where he lived ever since. His mother lived with him until he her death. Later he married Wilhelmina Ronneberger. Six children were born to them, Mrs. Henry Spehle of Brunswick, Mrs. Ed Krogstad of Eau Claire, Chas. T. of this city, Herman of Cleveland, Ohio and Gust and Minnie, who have always lived on the farm with them. He was 91 years and six months of age at the time of this death and had always enjoyed good health. The last few months he began to fail. Until the day before his death he was always able to sit in his chair and enjoy his meals. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge which he joined soon after he came to this country. Funeral services were held March 17. Interment in the Brunswick cemetery."
