Betz, Thomas Hayes

HL: Thomas Hayes Betz, 55, died Aug. 17, 2002

"Thomas Hayes Betz, 55, of North Hudson, formerly of Eau Claire, died 
Saturday, Aug. 17, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. He was born in Eau 
Claire Aug. 24, 1946, the son of Chauncy "Chick" and Mary "Toddy" (Blakely) 
Betz. He attended Regis High School and graduated from Chippewa Valley 
Technical College as a programmer systems analyst. He joined the U.S. Army 
Oct. 4, 1966, and served until Aug. 27, 1968. During his military duty he 
received the National Defense Service Medal and Sharpshooter Badge, Rifle 
M-14.

On July 1, 1972, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, he was married 
to Jane Wilder. He enjoyed spending time at his cabin in Eau Claire with his 
family and friends, and the annual deer hunting season with his sons. 
Surviving are his wife, Jane; two sons, Daniel and Michael; an uncle, 
Kenneth Betz; and a longtime friend, Jim Leonard.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his grandmother, Myra Betz; and a 
great-aunt, Louise Hayes. Private funeral services were Tuesday morning,
Aug. 20, in Hudson. A graveside service was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20 at 
Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire with Pastor Van V. Bredeson of Bethel 
Lutheran Church in Hudson officiating.  Arrangements were with the O'Connell 
Family Funeral Home in Hudson."
