Derge in January 31, 1962 Eau Claire Daily Telegram (Eau Claire, Eau Claire County, WI) Funeral Services for Dr. Derge to Be Held Saturday Funeral services for Dr. Herman F. Derge, 78, of 120 Marston Ave., who died Monday afternoon at his home will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. from the Christ Church Cathedral, the Very Rev. Gordon E. Brant officiating. The interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Dr. Derge was born in Eau Claire, received his early education in the local schools, graduating from high school at 15 years of age, and from the University at Madison four years later, with a B.A. Degree, having been elected to Phi Beta Kappa, honorary scholarship society. His family was among the early settlers of this part of the country. Dr. Derge went to Baltimore to take his training at Johns Hopkins and was placed directly on the surgical staff of the hospital. He received his medical degree in 1908. He came back to Eau Claire and was associated in practice with Dr. Lyman until 1921 when he helped found the Eau Claire Clinic. He was a member of the staffs of Sacred Heart and Luther Hospitals for years during 53 years of practice here. During the war he was consultant surgeon at Camp Custer, in charge of the operating rooms and handling of major surgical work. He was a member of Christ Church Cathedral, and was on the Vestry of the Church for 31 years, the last 17 of which he was senior warden. He was a member of the Masonic Bodies. Dr. Derge is survived by his wife, Margaret, two daughters, Mrs. Ned G. Fleming, Marshfield, and Mrs. Leonard J. Seyberth, Eau Claire, four grand- children and six great-grandchildren. Friends may call Friday afternoon and evening and Saturday forenoon at Lenmark's. The family requests that any memorials be made to the Christ Church Cathedral.
