Erity in Saturday, June 17, 1944 Eau Claire Leader (Eau Claire, Eau Claire County, WI) Irving C. Erity Dies, Victim of Heart Ailment; In Meat Business for Over Thirty Years Irving C. Erity, 54, in the meat business here for more than thirty years, died Friday morning at Sacred Heart hospital of a heart ailment from which he had been suffering for several months. The funeral will be held Monday morning at 8:15 from the Eau Claire Funeral home and at 8:30 from St. Patrick's church, Rt. Rev. Msgr. C.E. Dowd officiating. Interment will be in St. Patrick's cemetery. Friends may call at the Eau Claire funeral home Sunday afternoon and evening. Rosary will be said Sunday evening at 8:30. Pall bearers will be members of Eau Claire council, Knights of Columbus, James C. Brown, James E. Garvey, William F. Baumgartner, H.D. Couture, John H. Ashbaugh, and Thos. H. Murphy. Mr. Erity suffered his first heart attack several months ago and spent some time at the hospital, later returning to his home, 1529 S. Farwell street. He had been ailing most of the time since, however, and some days ago, when his condition became worse, he was again taken to the hospital. Surviving are his widow and a brother, B. Kenneth Erity, of this city. Mr. Erity was born in Eau Claire and was educated at St. Patrick's parochial school. He went to work for his uncle, the late George M. Betz, in his meat market on S. Barstow street, and after the death of the latter took charge of the business. He continued in the same location for six years, after which he organized the Eau Claire Table Supply Company, retailing both meats and groceries. Later he opened a meat market on Eau Claire street, remaining there 14 years, and then opened a market on Water street, which he had operated since. He was a member of both the Knights of Columbus and of the Elks. Father: Miles E.
