It is thought her death was occasioned by over-joy at receiving a visit from her daughters, Mrs. Furguson and Mrs. Ringer, of Vernon county, whom she had not seen in fifteen years. They arrived there a few days previous to her death and found her in her usual health. The excitement was too much for her enfeebled and aged condition, and she was soon strickened with paralysis, and remained in an unconscious condition till her death." NOTE: Esther (Irwin) Fickes was born in 1804 in Pennslyvania. She married Samuel Fickes. Their children were: Samuel Fickes, born 1834 in Ohio, James Henry Fickes, born 7 September 1839 in Zanesville, Muskingum, Ohio, (married Mary Jane Greeson), Martha Fickes, born 4 March 1845 in Shelby, Richland, Ohio, ( married Joseph Edgar Ringer), Hiantha Fickes, born 1846 in Ohio, (married Joseph R.
